Made for Gatherings

The Lodge suits any party that wants to be together somewhere extraordinary: family gatherings across three generations, milestone birthdays, a week with old friends, corporate retreats well away from the everyday, sporting parties and weddings. Seven bedrooms sleep up to 15, with one double en-suite, three twin en-suites, a triple en-suite and two twins sharing a bathroom, and the Bothy, a short walk down the driveway, takes the party to 21. Because only one booking runs at a time, the house settles into whatever shape your group wants, whether that is everyone at the table by eight or people drifting in off the hill at their own pace.

Rooms That Draw You In

Inside, the Lodge is properly Highland without being a museum piece. Antler chandeliers hang above deep sofas, stags and old portraits watch from the walls, and rugs run across dark polished floors. Glazed doors open between the rooms so a party can spread out or draw together: somewhere to talk, somewhere to read, and somewhere for the children to be cheerfully out of earshot. Fires are laid through the cooler months, and there is room enough that fifteen people never feel on top of one another.

The Observatory

Off the drawing room, the Observatory looks straight out across the glen. Glazed on three sides, it is the brightest corner of the house and the one guests tend to claim first: coffee at breakfast as the light comes up over the hills, or a dram at dusk watching the weather roll in from the west. It also holds a well-stocked library, so there is always something to take to an armchair while the rest of the party is out on the hill.

One Table, Every Evening

Days on the Estate are yours to shape, with activities from guided walking and Argocat adventures to fly fishing and clays. Evenings pull everyone back together. Our chef cooks around what the season and the Estate provide, including our own venison, and dinner is served at one long table with wine to go with it. Afterwards the party moves through to the fire for coffee, a dram and the retelling of whatever happened on the hill, which tends to improve considerably in the retelling.

When the Stars Come Out

On a clear night the sky above the Lodge fills with more stars than most guests have ever seen at once, the Milky Way plainly overhead, and through the winter months there is a real chance of the aurora away to the north. Step out from the porch, give your eyes a few minutes to adjust, and the glen does the rest. For all that remoteness the Lodge is not cut off: Starlink keeps the house online at speeds of up to 250 Mbps, which matters when a week has to fit around work.

Lodge Questions, Answered

How many guests can the Lodge take?

Up to 15 guests across seven bedrooms: one double en-suite, three twin en-suites, one triple en-suite and two twin rooms with a shared bathroom. With the Bothy alongside, the Estate sleeps up to 21.

Do we have the Lodge to ourselves?

Yes. The Lodge is booked by one party at a time, with exclusive use of the house and the Estate around it.

Are meals included?

Lodge stays are fully catered. Our chef looks after every meal, tailored to your party and any dietary requirements, with wine at dinner and picnic hampers for days on the hill.

Is there internet at the Lodge?

Yes. Starlink keeps the Lodge and the Bothy online at speeds of up to 250 Mbps, which is ample for video calls and working from the glen. Mobile signal, on the other hand, is close to non-existent, which most guests come to regard as part of the appeal.
